Dr Gaurav Gupta is a consultant orthopedic surgeon in Kolkata. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery, sports injuries and joint replacements. He has extensive experience in this subspecialty, having worked at world-renowned centres of excellence in UK, Australia & Sweden from August 2008 to December 2012.
Apart from his hospital commitments, Dr Gaurav Gupta also serves as sports injuries consultant to several elite players in cricket, football, golf and hockey. Dr Gupta has been associated as a consultant with important tournaments like IPL, Merchant’s cup, Tata Steel 25k Marathon

Dr Gupta obtained MBBS from GSVM Medical College Kanpur. He then pursued DNB Orthopaedics at Kolkata, where he was the first successful candidate from eastern India after a hiatus of 9 years. Dr Gupta went on to obtain MNAMS and Mch Orthopaedics. He completed 5 international fellowships over 4½ years (2008-12) concentrating exclusively on Arthroscopy, Sports Injuries & Joint Replacements.
He worked as Arthroscopy & Sports injuries fellow at Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) which gives the nobel prize for medicine each year. This was followed by Shoulder-upper limb fellowship at Geelong Hospital, Australia and Joint Replacement fellowship at Ballarat, Australia. He then moved to UK as Arthroscopy fellow at the world renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. Following this he completed Knee & Hip replacement fellowship at Dorset County Hospital, UK before returning to India in January 2013.
Since his return to India, Dr Gupta has been a faculty on shoulder & knee courses and workshops across the country. He has also been a guest lecturer at the SICOT Instructional Course Lectures 2013, GOSI 2015 & 2016, Indian Arthroscopy Society 2014, 2015, 2016 and Shoulder Elbow Society 2015. In the past, Dr Gupta has been a faculty on registrar teaching program in UK and Australia. He has made several international presentations at key meetings in Europe, Australia and UK.

Dr Gupta has performed several hundreds of complex shoulder & knee arthroscopy and joint replacement procedures overseas before returning to India as a consultant in this subspecialty
Besides his vast experience in Shoulder & Knee surgery, he also performs elbow, wrist, ankle and hip arthroscopic and joint replacement procedures for a wide spectrum of cartilage, ligament, tendon and bone problems
He has a special interest in shoulder arthroscopic surgeries, Multiligament knee surgeries, reverse shoulder replacements, computer navigation and patient specific knee replacements
Dr Gupta has pioneered arthroscopic surgery under local anaesthesia in South Asia
